I have been drooling over Monkey Mama Necklaces ever since I coordinated a joint review for Natural Parents Network and Monkey Butt Junction. I loved Nat’s passion for her business and the creativity and vision behind the beautiful shapes and colors. Truly she feeds my addiction for nursing necklaces. They are funky little accessories that I just can’t get enough of. I purchased one of her twiddle busters and then contacted her about a discounted custom of her brand new twiddly teethers in exchange for this review.
I was browsing a breastfeeding support website and saw a black and white Monkey Mama Necklace and thought to myself I would love to have something like this but I really want it to be black, white and red to stimulate Little #2′s brain. I had studied color theory as an artist and art teacher so I really wanted to have something that was attractive and functional. I was not disappointed when Nat presented me with the two options for my necklace.
Once my necklace arrived I was thrilled with it. I wore it while I was wearing Little #2 in my Baby K’tan and he was enchanted by it. He stared at the necklaces and the colors and chewed on the wooden ring and beads. I was really pleased with the spacing of the beads and how they were individually strung. The necklace has the infinity loop closure so I could widen the loop to fit it over my head or lower it for Little #2 to play and then tighten it to my desired length for wearing.
I also liked that I could lend the necklace to other caregivers while they held Little #2. It was convenient because they could hold him with two hands and weren’t having to reach for a teether while they were holding him. My dad even wore it for a short time while holding him. So it was great because Little #2 was entertained by the necklace and my dad was able to hold him and interact with him as well.
You can find your own Monkey Mama Necklace to fall in love with in the Monkey Mama Necklace etsy shop and you can connect with Nat on Facebook as well. There is the new August stocking and Nat is taking requests for customs through Facebook Messenger and etsy.
I use my twiddle buster necklace as a distraction for my older son during nursing sessions that I am not comfortable having a tandem session. You can see him playing with it in the photo above. These necklaces are great too for older children to play with during cuddling or while you are holding or carrying them. Currently Little Man has decided that the new necklace is his and his alone so he has hidden it away. While I am searching for it, I am in discussions for a second necklace in this style from Nat. SO you can see how much I love this necklace.
