Three Size 1 - liner pads

After deciding to cloth diaper my son, I began to think about cloth for myself.  I have always had issues find the right absorbency or have had discomfort or irritation if I needed to use disposable products for an extended period of time.  I was most uncomfortable during my last trimester of pregnancy when I was using pads to catch the little accidents that women are sometimes blessed with.

I began my search for a new solution to replace my daily liners and discovered cloth pads.  The ones from MomsCrafts4U were great!  They are as breathable as your regular underwear and are absorbent enough to pull moisture in and away from your body.  The upper is made from cotton fabric and has an absorbent core and fleece backing to prevent leaks.  The pads come with wings that are secured by snaps.

I wear these pads as every day liners and as back-up protection when I am using a menstrual cup.  I am quite happy with them as I can wear them for 8 hours without them feeling bunchy, hot or wet.  The liners are thin enough that I can fit three into my wetbag for the day and change as necessary.  They are made from cotton so they do not retain a smell.  I wash them with my regular diaper load and tumble dry them.  The wash up well with only minimal fabric wrinkling.

When the pads are soiled if I am at home I can toss them into my diaper pail or if I am out I can fold them into themselves and snap them up to avoid creating a mess in my wetbag.  If you are concerned about stains you can use a wet pail method by keeping them in a small closed container in your bathroom until you are ready to wash them, otherwise putting them in a small wetbag or diaper pail works.  I plan to continue using mama cloth even after my son is done with diapers so I will use a small hanging wetbag to store my used pads in between washing.

For my body type and use the liner pads work well but if I were a larger woman I would need a different size.  Size 1 is the liner style pad and is 8″ long.  Size 2 is 10″ long but has added ZORB fabric in the core.  There is third option for Heavy/PostPartum which is 14″ long and contains the same cotton upper and fleece backing with the ZORB material and added PUL for extra wetness protection.  The Size 2 and Heavy/PostPartum have snaps in two positions to adjust to most women.  Each of the pads are labeled with a small tag on the wing to differentiate the size.
